Product Information Bulletin – 19 October 2026
*This is an informational bulletin that requires no action unless the affected products listed below exhibit a hesitation of reserve deployment during a repack cycle. When following manufacturer guidelines, no hesitation or issue has been found*
Affected Products
Model: Vector SE (V3SE 364 and larger)
Date of Manufacture: May 1, 2013 – July 16, 2026
Owner Information
If, during a reserve inspection or operational check, any unusual hesitation or abnormal reserve pilot chute deployment characteristics are observed, please discontinue use of the system and contact UPT immediately so we can assist with evaluation and corrective action.
Operators should continue to ensure that:
• The reserve closing loop is maintained within UPT specifications.
• The reserve is inspected and repacked at the recommended service interval.
• Packing techniques provide proper canopy volume distribution within the container.
Corrective Action
As a proactive product improvement, UPT will provide an updated reserve pin cover flap for affected systems.
The replacement flap should be installed at the next scheduled reserve inspection and repack by a qualified rigger in accordance with UPT’s installation instructions.
Background
United Parachute Technologies (UPT) was notified by FFP of a reported hesitation during a manual activation of the reserve pilot chute as part of a routine test during the 1 year reserve repack cycle on certain Vector SE systems.
Following this report, UPT conducted an extensive engineering evaluation of the affected container sizes. Testing included manufacturer-approved packing procedures, proper closing loop tolerances, out of tolerance closing loop lengths, and real-world deployment scenarios representative of field use. Throughout this evaluation, UPT was unable to reproduce a reserve pilot chute lock-up or hesitation when the system was assembled and maintained in accordance with the published manufacturer’s instructions.
Although our testing did not duplicate the reported condition, UPT is committed to continuously improving the performance and reliability of our products. As a result of our investigation and ongoing product development efforts, we have introduced an updated reserve pin cover flap design for the affected Vector SE container sizes.
Our Commitment
UPT remains committed to the safety, performance, and continuous improvement of every Vector system we manufacture. We appreciate your cooperation as we implement this proactive product enhancement and thank you for your continued confidence in UPT products.
